About the Writer

“You are close to Earth, with the fact that you love flowers, plants, and trees. And with that, you love the little things. You don’t need big Rose Bushes to make you happy, just a little Daisy is all you need.” – not my words but perfectly descriptive of me.

My name is Samantha but you can call me Sami. I am 24 years old and I love to explore. Even more so, I love snapping photographs and I love writing.

I grew up in a small town called Plant City, FL. My adult life landed me in a beachy town off of the coast where I’ve spent the last three years with my family. We have big plans. Just wait.

I love tea and books, flowers obviously, and beautiful things. I appreciate the smaller things in life. I am a child at heart and I’m sure I’ll be that way for the rest of my life. Cute dresses and the color purple are the apple of my eye and I have a love affair with tiny animals.

I have one flower child, four fur babies, and one man baby. Just kidding, he’s pretty great. He’s my best friend, partner in crime, and I’m thankful I have someone to take with me on various adventures. I’m the thinker and the planner, he is the doer and pusher. So he actually helps me keep going. And our bundle of joy is the best explorer in training that we could have been blessed with.

She is currently a year and a half old. She dances anytime she hears music, she eats any new food I put in front of her, and she loves stumbling around new places I take her. She has my spirit and determination already, I just know it. She sniffs all the flowers she sees and can destroy a cookie quicker than anyone. She loves all animals and she is such a cool kid. I’m convinced she’s cooler than I am. Her brown hair curls in wispy waves above each large, eye of the same autumn color. She’s a curious little one.

Now we have stories to share with the little bean and excitedly watch her little feet tread new grounds.

We will pass down the wanderlustful travel bug and teach her (and any future kids) to have the yearning to learn about the world just as we have. We will teach them to be privy of new experiences and compile ideas of the ones they would want to experience, just as I so have. We will show them the world and teach them through different cultures, foods, music, and everything life has to offer.

My definition of a bucket list is this:

A list compiled of all the things you want to do and actually doing them. Instead of saying “I’ll try that one day”, try getting in over your head and submerse yourself into the world around you right now, right here.

560105_252242541592820_1236961244_nHit the ground running. What have you got to lose?

Mind expansion, skill collection, and culture receipt are all reasons to go forward. These are the reasons why I started Flowersandwanderlust. I write as a means to uproot anxiety about life and to inspire those reading. I write to prove to myself that I can do anything if I dream big enough.

Why buy THINGS that won’t go with you when you die when you can spend your time and money on EXPERIENCES. When you leave this vast world, you’re not going to take your possessions, but you will have your memories. I read a quote related to such a notion and it hit me so hard. I’ll never forget that. Your memories will live on through photographs, stories, and through your loved ones. You won’t be thinking about that last big Black Friday deal you snagged or the designed shoes you just added to your closet inventory.

Why sit around wasting your time doing a job you don’t like? Why not just take the risk? Why not just take control and live by the means of your own self, instead of what is expected of you? Take that chance.

From now on, I will ease back on the worries and let them fade away, to enjoy my future and what is ahead of me instead of being fearful of the unknown. Most of all, I write to live a life of substance.

So there you have it. Life is waiting for you.

  1. Really great to meet you here. Thank you for my follow. I love your blog. Life is for living and to live your own life is very important that is rich in beauty, freedom, discovery, love and much much more. I always say follow your dreams. You are doing just that and more. I have liked your fb page and will enjoy your posts. Much love Allie. x

    1. It is nice to meet you, as well. Thank YOU for the follow and the kind words. You’re completely right and I look forward to reading your writings. Thank you for the FB like and I am so excited to have a new supportive friend reading along. 🙂

    1. You know what? I have no idea. Someone else said something to me about that and I looked and looked for a way to add a WordPress follow button but never found one. Is the black bar with the wordpress follow at the top of your screen? That’s how others have been doing it I think, lol. If not, I’ll find out which way she did it.

    2. Try this?: You can add a domain name manually into the WordPress Reader.

Let me know if that works. Thanks for going through my complicated way of life (lol) to subscribe. Makes me happy.

      1. Got it. I just went to edit blogs I follow on the side. (website version) and typed in your domain in the box at the top where it says ‘enter a blog url to follow’ and clicked follow.

        1. It’s so weird that it even happens like that for some but not others, lol. Thank you for following. Can’t wait to share with you / read your posts.

    1. Thank you for the follow, as well! I’m glad we have some of the nicest things to write about in common. Can’t wait to read your writings. 🙂

    1. Nothing in the world makes me happier to know than that! Thank you for letting me know. I super, super appreciate comments like the one you just made. 🙂

  2. “I interpret the meaning of a bucket list as a means to fully live your life to the extent of your dreams. It does not matter how big or small your item is but just that you know you will get it done.”

I absolutely LOVE this perspective of a Bucket List…Sami….and your blog as I said before. I am so happy it now shows up in my reader! You are an amazing person. OK, back to reading… <3 -CC

    1. I’m glad you get notifications in your reader now. That fills me with joy. I try to give my perspective so no one thinks I’m suffering from a terminal illness or whatnot. God forbid. I also hate when people say “Oh, you have your whole life to do all that.” Well, yes, but it is my priority, if that makes any sense. Thank you for reading and liking so many posts. I’m ecstatic.

      1. I had read some before, but my mind was whirring…and I dont like to hit like or comment until I can really do it. Plus, it is harder to go offsite for me when I am like that…so many people, bipolar..hahaha…but that is how I knew who you were…but was sooo happy when I saw it in the reader and it went right to it! Love your blog, such a happy place <3

  3. Hi Sami, just wanted to stop by, say hello, and thank you for following us over at Travel-Stained. 🙂 I also have found my perfect everything partner in my hubby. Exploring the world would simply not be the same without him. No fur babies to speak of though… 😉

    1. I look forward to see what your site has to offer. I am so happy for you! Aren’t they the best travel partners? I would love to hear some of you guys’ experiences together. 🙂
Thank you for taking interest in my website, as well! It brings me much joy.

  4. Yes, I agree, reflecting on life through writing does make it feel more substantial! There’s a lot of adventurous energy here; I’m sure you must have a lot of fun with this blog. 🙂 More power to you!

    1. Thank you for nominating me. 🙂
I will definitely get back to you on this some time today.
It brings so much joy to me today!

  5. Love reading the unique perspective you share here. I also love writing, bucket lists, and the little things in life.
I write a blog and now am working on my new travel website. I read the interviews you’ve done so far and where you said you are thinking of adding a contact form for any future interview requests. Well, I think you ask some very interesting and unexpected questions in your interviews and would love to be considered for one sometime.
Let me know if this might be possible or I can get back to you when you create the form. I hope for a year full of interviews and guest blogging opportunities this year just like last. That is my own goal, for my own blog and for others. Have a good week.

    1. Thank you so much for your response! I always enjoy your feedback. You’re definitely on my queue for an interview. I decided this before I even began conducting. 🙂

I will let you know when I’m ready to send the questions. I’m a few behind, haha. It takes a lot of time and oddly I don’t have much of it.

I am very interested in your story and feel you should be apart of it.

    1. Thank you oh so, so much! I will definitely get back to you on that one tomorrow I believe. I really appreciate the nomination. c: It makes me very happy. I enjoyed your responses and blog as well!

  6. Why have I not found your blog sooner?! I love the idea behind your blog, it is so unique and engaging. I’m guilty of reading your posts for the last hour or so… 🙂 Best of luck–your blog is amazing!

    1. Thank you for the kind words! I’m surely glad you did find my blog and I sincerely hope you enjoy all that comes from the future! 🙂 This is one of the kindest comments I’ve ever received. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    1. I came across your blog from a fellow blogger and it is great. I haven’t had much time to really dig in, I just wanted to follow for future purposes. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

  7. G’day Sami,
Just dropped in to say thank you for your visit and for noting a follow, both are very much appreciated.
You have a very unique blog here, I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing through it, don’t worry I left it as I found it hahaha.

    1. And the same to you! I appreciate it greatly. I’m so glad you took the time out to read some of the things I’ve written. 🙂 Have a wonderful day!

  8. Hi Sami, nice to meet you. Love your passion for life! Love that you make a bucket list and then go do them!
Thanks so much for following our blog. I hope you enjoy the stories of our journey, both inner and outer.

    1. It is very nice to meet you as well, Alison!
Comments like yours always remind me why I do these things. It makes me happy to know others are there for me and reading my passions!

I do look forward to the stories you guys put out. 🙂 Thanks again for the follow and kind words.

    1. Thank you Theresa! I really appreciate that. I hope to see you around and I look forward to the things you have to say as well.

The fact that you care about advice from me makes me delighted and absolutely fills me with joy. I think whatever you do if you follow your heart, you will be set. Congrats on being pregnant! That’s going to account for some amazing things to write about. It is also on my bucket list. c:

Anyway, above all, just be you. Be genuine. The more authentic you are, the more people you will draw in. But don’t worry about numbers. Blogging for you is the best. Also, if you take the time to spruce up your page with a flowing “about me” or pictures, and the themes/plug-ins WordPress offers, you will have a door of opportunities opened for you.

If you want followers, keep up with what you’re doing by tagging. That’s how I found you. I constantly check the bucket list tag because it is like my niche on here. 🙂

And interacting with other bloggers is definitely a plus. You bring in lovely people and meet all kinds of bloggers that way.

I’m email subscribing to you so I don’t miss anything! 🙂

    1. Oh, thank you! This makes me so happy. I wish even I could do more traveling, haha, you’re not alone there! Thanks for stopping by my website. 🙂

    1. Thank you for the follow and the comment! You’re so kind. I’m glad I’m able to relate to other people out there in the world.
